February’s Update

 February’s Community Service Hours: 1 hours


Cumulative Hours: 6 hours


Recently, I volunteered at an organization called The Green Project, which collects hardware, paint, tile, and other homebuilding supplies, renovates them, and then sells them back to the community at affordable prices. Our leader described it to us during our orientation as “Home Depot meets a thrift store,” which I think is a great way to describe it. One thing that I noticed when walking into the environment was how creative it was. They took items that other people might throw away and made it so that it was cool and innovative. I also really enjoyed how welcoming the environment was and how impressed I was with the organization’s mission.


I just recently experienced my first Mardi Gras here in New Orleans and I must say that I really enjoyed it. It is exactly how everyone described it.


In our pharmacology program, we recently completed the endocrine module and moved on to the neurology module. The endocrine material was difficult for me, but I enjoyed the chance to further understand this complex subject. As a Neurobiology major, neurology concepts are familiar to me, and because of this, the material seems easier for me to understand. The information is well-organized and presented in a clear manner.

It’s been about 1.5 months since starting the Pharmacology program at Tulane, and the transition from California to New Orleans has been both an adjustment and a warm welcome. This month, I got to engage with the community by volunteering for Grace at the Green Light , a non-profit organization that assists the unhoused community of New Orleans by providing them with basic essentials. I helped out twice with their “Meals with Love-Breakfast” events where they serve the homeless population with hot breakfast and coffee. October's Update

  October’s Community Service Hours: 4 hours Cumulative Hours: 6 hours Hey guys! This month I went back to the Grace at the Green Light organization and helped out with their breakfast distribution to the unhoused community. This month Westin joined me both times and we got to experience different roles at the event. The first time we went this month was on October 12th. First we helped set up the clothing department where people could find clothes that worked for them. Then we were tasked with handing out the already packed food to the people while collecting their tickets. I believe we served approximately 270 people that day and this was a cool experience since we got to personally meet everyone that was able to attend and benefit from this organization’s work. November's Update

  November’s Community Service Hours: 7 hours Cumulative Hours: 13 hours This month I was able to finally go back home again for the first time this semester during Thanksgiving break. So, I was actually able to help out with the Hearts for the Homeless, an organization I used to be deeply involved with. This is an organization that gives free blood pressure and blood glucose screening to the underserved community of Sacramento, California. During my undergraduate years, I served as a member until I became the president of the UC Davis chapter during the 2024-25 school year. Now, I currently serve as a liaison and do most of my work behind the scenes. However, since I was able to go back to California again, I was able to serve at two of their locations again. On 11/28/25 we served at Wind Youth Services for 3 hours. This is an organization that caters towards the younger generation of the unhoused community.
