April's Update

April's Community Service Hours: 11 hours

Cumulative Hours: 26 hours


This month, I participated in different volunteer work that was both rewarding and enjoyable. First, I helped teach children in special needs to play pickleball. This took around five hours and it happened in Metairie where many community members came to help. I thought it was exciting since I got the opportunity to engage with the children and create a positive environment for them. I also went back to the Green Project with Westin. Again, this is a place where we organize donations so that people can easily purchase them at affordable prices. Also, along with my class, we spent an hour producing hygiene bags for the local shelter.

In terms of our curriculum, this month has been fairly easy since all of the modules have been completed. We just took the last cell control exam and the final exam for the Pharmacology program. I personally did end up taking the MCAT this month as well, so it was nice to have extra time this month to prepare for that.

Now, with this final blog post, we have officially completed the program. I really enjoyed the entire experience and thought everything was very well organized. The combination of volunteering and academics made it a great experience, and I am glad I had the opportunity to be part of it.

It’s been about 1.5 months since starting the Pharmacology program at Tulane, and the transition from California to New Orleans has been both an adjustment and a warm welcome. This month, I got to engage with the community by volunteering for Grace at the Green Light , a non-profit organization that assists the unhoused community of New Orleans by providing them with basic essentials. I helped out twice with their “Meals with Love-Breakfast” events where they serve the homeless population with hot breakfast and coffee. March's Update

 March’s Community Service Hours: 9 hours Cumulative Hours: 15 hours This month I was able to volunteer 5 hours with Maysen for Heroes of New Orleans. They hosted their 2nd Annual Race for a Cause Go-Kart Festival on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Basically, it was a huge event where donors' money supported stipend-paid programs that empower at-risk youth and underserved families in the Greater New Orleans area. They provided entertainment, had the ability to go-kart, provided food, and had lots of cool activities for the donors to do. I was stationed at the reception desk, where I manually input all the racers' names into the system to keep track of all the different races and racers. This month I also volunteered with Westin at the Green Project for 4 hours. October's Update

  October’s Community Service Hours: 4 hours Cumulative Hours: 6 hours Hey guys! This month I went back to the Grace at the Green Light organization and helped out with their breakfast distribution to the unhoused community. This month Westin joined me both times and we got to experience different roles at the event. The first time we went this month was on October 12th. First we helped set up the clothing department where people could find clothes that worked for them. Then we were tasked with handing out the already packed food to the people while collecting their tickets. I believe we served approximately 270 people that day and this was a cool experience since we got to personally meet everyone that was able to attend and benefit from this organization’s work.
